Heritage Park
Ahmedabad
Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Heritage Park sits along the west bank of the Sabarmati River — a large-scale public landscape within the Sabarmati Riverfront Development, one of India’s most significant urban regeneration projects. The park encompasses a continuous riverside promenade, sculpted earth mounds, mature tree canopy, pedestrian pathways, and active public spaces serving thousands of visitors each evening.
Our lighting scope covered the full extent of the park — from the riverside edge to the internal pathway network — with a brief to extend the usability of the space after dark without diminishing its landscape character. Warm-white tree uplighting, path-level ground luminaires, and carefully placed feature lighting on the landform structures were coordinated to create a coherent nocturnal environment at civic scale.

— Lighting Approach
Light at
civic scale
The lighting brief for Heritage Park required an approach calibrated to the dual nature of the site — a living landscape of mature trees and sculpted earth mounds on one side, and a busy riverside promenade used by thousands of residents each evening on the other.
Tree uplighting at 2700–3000 K was specified to reveal canopy structure without flattening it — warm enough to read as natural, precise enough to distinguish individual specimens. The characteristic landform mounds were treated with low-angle ground-level luminaires that reveal contour and texture rather than flood the form with light. Path luminaires were held low, directing light to the ground plane and away from the sky — preserving the character of the landscape after dark while meeting the safety and usability requirements of a high-footfall civic space.
The riverfront edge — visible from across the Sabarmati and from the elevated expressway — was treated as a civic frontage: a consistent, calm line of light that reads coherently from a distance without competing with the activity of the park itself.
