Vedant Office
Ahmedabad
The Vedant Office is a multi-floor private commercial building in Ahmedabad — a workspace that brings together raw exposed concrete, hand-laid brick, warm timber joinery, and double-height volume into a coherent architectural character. The building integrates open-plan workspaces, private cabins, meeting rooms, a boardroom, canteen, and a ground-level temple enclosure, all connected by a central stairwell that serves as the spatial and visual heart of the project.
Associated Lighting was engaged to specify and supply the complete lighting installation across all floors and spaces. The brief required a layered approach — functional precision for task areas, architectural restraint for circulation and common spaces, and warmth for the lounge and hospitality zones — all coordinated to respect and enhance the materiality of the architecture.

Light that
reads the material
The architecture of the Vedant Office is defined by the interplay of three materials — exposed concrete, hand-laid brick, and warm timber. The lighting specification was built around this material palette. Each surface was treated differently: concrete ceilings received linear pendant luminaires that cast directed task light downward without washing the ceiling with reflected glare; brick walls were grazed with warm LED strip mounted along the stair stringers, revealing the texture and depth of each course; timber panels and joinery were allowed to warm naturally under the ambient light of adjacent sources rather than being directly illuminated.
The double-height stairwell — the spatial centrepiece of the building — was treated as a single composition. LED strip running along the underside of each stair flight grazes the brick wall behind it, creating a rhythmic pattern of warm light that animates the vertical journey through the building. From the lounge at ground level, the stairwell reads as a glowing backdrop — the dominant spatial experience of the interior.
The lounge area receives a circular ring pendant — a considered departure from the linear language used elsewhere — marking the gathering space with a different quality of light. Warm downlights serve the lift lobby and breakout zones, maintaining legibility without over-illuminating spaces that benefit from a degree of calm and repose.
